Constantine Fotopoulus, who has been on Florida's death row
since 1990, was sentenced to death for a conspiracy he allegedly
orchestrated in 1989.
He has hardly any legal possibilities to defend himself against the execution... Kosta insists to be innocent! In 1989, Kosta is said to have hatched a bizarre plan. He was accused of videotaping his former girlfriend, Deidre Hunt, tying a young man to a tree and then shooting him, for the purpose of blackmail she. This video was then to be used to force Deidre Hunt to hire a man to murder Kosta's wife by means of a fake burglary. This man broke into the apartment and shot Kosta's wife in the head while she was lying her in bed. Kosta then allegedly shot this man. Kosta's wife survived this attempted murder.... Kosta was sentenced to death for this alleged conspiracy. A U.S. District Judge, Gregory Presnell in Orlando, ruled that the death sentence against Kosta Fotopoulos was unfair because prosecutors had presented two completely different versions of Hunt's role in the conspiracy. Kosta writes to us about this: „In my case, I have a co-defendant. A co-defendant is someone who is charged with you for the same crime. A month before my trial, my co-defendant went to trial, she was a woman, and at the time my part time mistress. In her trial, the prosecutors argued and proved, that she committed the crimes of her own free will. To do that they presented a substantial amount of evidence. A month after her trial my trial took place. The very same prosecutors came to my trial and in my trial they presented false evidence that I coerced her into committing the crimes, so I was found guilty because if you coerce someone to commit a crime you are as guilty as they are. At the time I did not know what had transpired at her trial or that they had proved that she committed the crimes of her own free will. My " layer " at the time, however, went to her trial so he knew everything, he did not, however tell me about it, he kept it all secret. Six months after my conviction he [the "lawyer"] got a job at the prosecutor office...“ Konstantin Fotopoulous a victim of a corrupt system? A presumption that is at least very close... |
